Lewis was born in Richmond and while still in high school, started working within the darkroom for Foster Studio. Five years later, he expanded to an advertising art studio, while perfecting his skills as a photographer. In the late 70s he bought an existing portrait/wedding studio and created ACTION PHOTO COMPANY. During this time, he met, romanced and married his wife BJ.
