From Our Website
Just 19 years after Vermont became a state and two years before the War of 1812 broke out, an enterprising man by the name of John Foote built a boarding house and tavern at the foot of a gap in the Green Mountains, in the east village of Middlebury. He foresaw the establishment and growth of this tiny community into an industrial boom town, and planned to take advantage of it by providing the ageless necessities of good food and comfortable shelter to the workers employed in local businesses, including the Vermont Glass Factory, an iron forge and a woolen fabric works.
There are few moments in one's life that are more memorable or poignant than the day of their wedding. Family, friends, and your very special partner get to be the sole focus of your attention for a few short days, during which you fondly reflect on your life so far, and excitedly imagine your future. The most important ingredient in this period of time and place is that of family and friends. Without them, past pleasures and memories would not be nearly as sweet. We believe that the next critical element of this special event is its location and venue.
