Sound Express

SUMMARY: Todd was extremely rude to my guests, didn't play right songs, and completely ignored guest requests. Do not recommend. FULL REVIEW: I was going to reach out after the honeymoon to voice my concerns but after reading the reviews I won't even waste my time. I hired Todd for my wedding and I still cannot believe how incredibly bad it was.

Not only did I find out after the fact that he was incredibly rude to everyone but me, but he also didn't play a vast majority of the songs I requested. When we had our meeting I had over 150 songs on my playlist and was told he wouldn't get to all of them which of course makes sense (I even cut down the song list and prioritized the songs I definitely wanted played) on our invitations we asked our guests for song requests that would get them on the dance floor and I made that known to Todd, he played like 2 of the songs I put down as guest requested.

He was catering towards the few older guests I had, which was not wanted nor needed as my older guests are youthful and love modern music. I had people tell me they requested songs but he ignored them stating it was "too rough for this crowd" If that wasn't bad enough he messed up my husband and Is first dance song, which is ridiculous because at our meeting he actually played the right version of the song so I don't know how he got it wrong.

Instead of a nice romantic dance we had to accommodate to a faster tempo. I also wanted to do a specific dance for the end of the father daughter dance where my sisters joined us but again the wrong version was played and it was super awkward and embarrassing. There were a few instances where I was going to request a song to be played or just touch base with him but he was not even in the dj booth.

I did tell him the dj could eat but I was not expecting him to treat it like an all you can eat buffet. My husband, the beautiful soul he is l, wanted to give Todd a tip for his services but at the end of the night Todd had left without saying a word. Which usually I would've been upset about but I was still peeved about the first dance and didn't think he deserved a tip anyway so I was glad he left before my husband caught him. All in all I wish I would've read reviews before booking because we definitely would have went another way.

Absolutely terrible experience with this company, specifically the person who is supposed to be the owner and is also DJ. He was so rude to multiple people in the bridal party which I was a member of and to the mother of the groom. The way he spoke to everyone was highly unprofessional. It is supposed to be a day of joy and he was like a dark cloud raining all over the beautiful day.

He denied multiple song requests and continued to play the same type of songs all night. It is clear he does not enjoy his job anymore and should really think about retiring if he is going to continue to treat his clients and their family/friends in such a manner. Take your money elsewhere people.

I agree with the 1 star reviews almost identical issues. Todd is so rude, and arrogant music quality was horrible. I believe that if you are paid for a service you should put on your best smile and attitude and get it done. On a special event no one wants to hear about how you know everything because of your years of experience if that was true there would not have been any issues but for you to treat and speak to multiple family members in the manner that you did, I am still in shock!

Rude rude rude, this man was just horrible not very patient. I am very understanding and appreciate everyone that provides a service, but this man was so arrogant, and I wasn't the only one at the wedding that had a horrible experience with this man. Music quality was poor as well.

I hired Sound Express after having a meeting with Todd and having horrible experiences with meetings with other DJ's. When we signed the contract and paid the deposit I had made sure to ask for a Country DJ since we were having a rustic wedding and wanted country music only unless our guests had a request for something different. Come to the day of the wedding, they sent a DJ that was having major technical issues.

We started the wedding, and the music cut off before our flower dude was able to walk down the aisle. He ended up walking down to my song and when I was walking halfway down the aisle the music stopped again. I let it go and just continued walking to my husband. The reception comes and they did not play country music. To make things worse the DJ had our schedule and timeline of things but came to my husband and I every 15 minutes to ask about the timeline.

He had 0 experience with being a wedding DJ and was a horrible MC. Nobody danced at our reception considering he played hip hop and rap all night instead of country like requested. I asked my guests why they werent dancing and they said he refused to play any requests, we had advised them to play any requests unless they were explicit due to kids.

I went up to him and asked him to play country music and any requests that our guests had. He told me okay then the next song played was "Ice Ice Baby." I reached out to Todd the day after the wedding to let him know what happened with no response. Again a couple weeks later asking to speak to him about what happened and that I wanted a partial refund because we did not receive service worth anywhere near the $1545.00 we paid for the services.

He then responded asking what happened and said he would look into what happened and acted like I was lying about what happened. Then back to silence and not returning any text messages or calls. I recommend splurging and going with any different company because their DJs have no experience and they do not return calls or texts to make things right with their clients.

Todd was amazing for our wedding just like every other event I have attended where he has been DJ-ing. We got married in Pinecrest this past May. He really kept the entire event on track as was such a meaningful MC. Having anyone else, I would've been nervous because it was really important to me to not have a cheesy vibe or too serious a vibe.

We worked with him a few weeks before the wedding, talking about what we wanted and didn't want. He absolutely kept to our wishes. I would highly recommend. Thanks Todd!

Definitely best guys in town. Thank you Taylor for taking a lot of stress off my wife during the wedding so she could enjoy our day. If you are planning a wedding they are extremely exprienced and know what you want before you do. I will be booking them for any other events that we have from here on out.

Sound Express did a fantastic job at my daughter's themed wedding. Todd was friendly and professional. His lighting setup and music selections kept the entire event flowing and fun. I would HIGHLY recommend Sound Express for any event and won't bother looking anywhere else if I ever need a DJ again.

We won DJ services for a few hours through them at a wedding fair so we only had to pay for a few hours, exciting right? Todd was super friendly and accommodating when I initially tried to set up an appointment, until I told him who I was. After that he did not pick up the phone for the phone appointment that we had agreed on the day before, nor did he return the 4 phone calls and messages I left.

Finally my wedding planner set up a meeting with him. Went over who would be giving speeches at the wedding, but he skipped my parents and when they did speak he gave no introduction. Asked him to just play a few min of the song for the father/daughter dance then fade into mother son and just do a few min of their song. I had to keep looking at him to transition out of my song before he did, then he played the entire song for my husbands dance. Songs were repeated multiple times. I also gave a list of some songs I wanted to be played, one of the songs I heard 4 times! Overall I was EXTREMELY disappointed, don't waste your $175 an hour on them.

Thank you Todd! Had Todd cover the DJ services and the MC at our wedding. He was great! He was very professional and knew exactly what he was doing. He made sure everything was covered and didn't miss anything. He was very thorough with the planning aspect and getting everything set up ahead of time. He made sure everything was catered to what we wanted out of our wedding.

During the wedding he played great music, he read the crowd and knew exactly what to play and kept everything smooth and running on time. I would recommend Todd and Sound Express to anyone. I couldn't have asked for anything more. Thanks again Todd, you were awesome!

I got married on July 21, 2018 at Pageo Lavender Farm in Turlock. Pageo required us to select a DJ for our wedding off of their preferred vendor list. After talking with a few different companies from the list, we chose Sound Express because of their style and understanding of our requests, price, and experience in the industry. About one month before the wedding, we spoke with the owner Todd on the phone to finalize our song selections and timeline for the day.

On the wedding day, Todd arrived at the agreed upon time to set up for the ceremony. He dressed appropriately to what we had discussed on the phone and met with us and the bridal party before to introduce himself and give a rundown of how the timeline for the day would go. There were a couple hiccups throughout the night, but overall Todd executed everything smoothly and guests had a wonderful time! A DJ can make or break the vibe of your wedding day and we were happy to have Todd of Sound Express 'host' guests during our special day!

Thank you so much for making wedding so pretty. The lights and the music was great. My mind was ease once I saw it all set up. I was so in love and grateful that you were able to go with my beauty and the beast theme. Thank you so much.

If I could give more stars I would. Todd is the real deal. We hired him for our daughters wedding reception. My daughter wanted a barn country look with burlap and lights. OMG it was beyond what we thought. He was always available for the many questions and suggestion we had over the year we planned this event. The night of the event Todd was on top every thing.

Music was perfect he kept things moving right along, , It was everything we asked for and more for my one and only daughter big day. I highly recommend Sound Express and they many other services.

I had my wedding on august 6 2016 sound express was our dj! Our first dance was suppose to be a mix of a couple different songs! My husband and I went a learned a choreographed dance and spend a lot of money on it! I called todd the day before to make sure he had all the songs he told me yes and that he was going to be the dj at my wedding reception!

We walked in from our intro and there was a different dj there and they had none of the songs for my first dance! I wasted all that money learning that dance for nothing! I should have never paid them they were horrible! They Don't even deserve one star!

Wow what a party last Saturday! My daughter got married and we were smart enough to hire Todd Davis, owner of sound express for our DJ. Our guests danced nonstop for 4 hours due to Todd's ability to read our guests' music tastes and NEVER taking a break. He just kept playing great music and facilitated an amazing party. Your DJ WILL MAKE OR BREAK YOUR reception. Don't chintz on this aspect of the wedding costs!

I met Todd while working as the Event Coordinator for the Modesto Chamber of Commerce. He has always delivered above and beyond anything ever asked of him and in the most professional way possible. His reliability is more than above average, his delivery is beyond excellent and his flexibility is always amazing. He has never even come close to disappointing.

Always exactly the opposite of that. Extremely easy to work with and is able to work with even the most difficult people and difficult situations. He has a way of bringing calm and order in situations that are fraught with chaos and frustrations. He handles crisis with finesse and might possibly be hiding a Super Hero Cape under his black polo shirt.

Prior to working for the chamber I was a business coach and a wedding coordinator before that. I have never encountered anyone as qualified and skilled at this job as Todd Davis and wouldn't hesitate to recommend him for any event. He knows his stuff and he always delivers

I hired Todd for our wedding, his son Tyler showed up on the wedding day to set up everything. I thought it was just for help but his son was actually the one who was dj'ing. Todd finally showed up 10 minutes before we walked down the aisle. My wife had sent him over the music in order for who was going to be walking down the aisle and what to play as they walked. Todd repeated the same song in a row and switched it as my future wife was making her entrance.

When the ceremony was over he was supposed to dj for 4 hours, all he did was make the introductions and handed the mic off to Tyler. Tyler has no experience and played awful music, I don't blame him, I blame Todd. I hired him for his services not Tyler, it was never discussed that he would be coaching a baseball game and not providing his services on my wedding day. I would not suggest hiring him for your event, because he will send his son in his place.

Ryan and Todd were AMAZING! I told them that I was very nervous about hiring a DJ because I know that the music is what makes or breaks your wedding. They put my mind at ease before the wedding and lived up to all of their promises and my expectations as a bride. They played every song that I asked for, as well as did not play songs we asked them not to (cussing songs just are not classy!

And they understood that :). The music was amazing, and really created an enjoyable atmosphere. Ryan also made sure that the wedding flowed nicely and told me when it was time for the next thing on our schedule we had given him. He was polite, positive, and made sure we got everything we asked for. They even put up very nice flat screen TVs to display all of my slideshows (father daughter dance, mother son dance, and pictures of my husband and I throughout the reception).

I gave him my slideshows before hand, and they took care of the rest! Few.one less thing for me to worry about! Ryan acted as not only my DJ, but as my MC and my Reception Scheduler by keeping in touch with the venue to make sure everything flowed well. My wedding day was PERFECT, and Sound Express is 95% responsible for making my wedding a dream come true! Thank you Todd and Ryan!

I have used Sound Express for both my wedding and events at my workplace. Owning a small business myself I know how hard it can be to find reliable service AT a reasonable price. Sound Express (Todd) has gone above and beyond my expectations. Our wedding was incredible. His ability to capture the moment and keep things rolling at a timely pace was talent that you can only get from many years experience.

Not to mention the incredible lighting that creates an atmosphere special enough for a once in a lifetime event. I have also used them to run sound for my annual sale at my place of business. They did a great job setting up while keeping equipment out of the way for a high traffic day. They miked the speakers so you could hear the presentations and provided nice ambiance with music during the food service.

Sound express is a local (supporting local small business' is important to me) company that has the tools, equipment and knowledge that only someone who has long time experience and quality equipment can offer. I wouldn't risk something as special as a wedding, etc to anyone else. If you want a stellar experience these guys are the way to go.

Do you want a solid DJ for your wedding or party? Here he is. Todd and his staff are amazing. Whatever you want you'll get. Sound express is always professional and always keeps the party going. This is the only DJ around that I would recommend. I have worked as a photographer for many of the events that Todd and Co. have DJ'd and I have been impressed every time. If you want the very best in DJ'ing and lighting, Sound Express is your best bet.

I've worked with Todd at many events over the paste several years. He is a great person to work with, does an Outstanding job and brings the party to life. His people skills are over the top. If I have ever been in need of something he's always there to help and keep things going. I wouldn't recommend any other DJ service.
