Mastin Studio - Seattle Wedding Photography

I first learned of Mastin Studio when I saw that a wedding Kirk shot was featured in a magazine (my cousin was a bridesmaid!). I was captivated by Kirk's style and the quality of his photos, so much so that I bookmarked his website and kept up with his blog when I wasn't even engaged. When I did get engaged, I shopped around, but kept comparing other photographers to Kirk.

In August 2014, Kirk shot our outdoor wedding and his presence felt like a relaxed, good friend was taking our photos. Prior to the wedding, my husband wasn't as excited as I was about having our photos taken, but later told me he felt very comfortable around Kirk. Post wedding, Kirk was very responsive; he was quick to have our online gallery up and sent us a disc of high resolution files.

We received our beautiful album shortly after a given time frame set by Kirk for designing the album just as we wanted it. We love looking at our wedding photos and know we will for years to come.

Working with Kirk before, during, and now after our wedding has been such a wonderful experience! Photography was always the #1 priority for our wedding and I couldn't be happier with our photographs. My husband and I were married on New Years Eve in Michigan at a venue that has been shot by just about every Metro Detroit wedding photographer around. Kirk's fresh perspective brought forth gorgeous photographs that always have people asking "Where was this taken?!?" Not only are the photographs beautiful (his work speaks for itself), but Kirk is incredibly kind and personable which helped to make our wedding day stress free!

Speaking from the perspective of an artist, I wanted my wedding photos to tell a story and to represent the ambiance of the event. After all, you spend a long time planning it (some their entire life). So I knew I wanted a true artist to be our photographer, after all anyone with enough money can buy the best digital gear there is and take a photo.

A true artist is a world apart, Kirk is one of these. I unfortunately have seen too many disappointing photos of weddings and seen all of the Judge Judy episodes related to those. We knew our wedding would be in a forest, at night, and feature a canoe. No easy task. When I typed these key words into google and searched on images, Kirk's amazing photography popped up.

I knew we had to hire him. Immediately. He did not disappoint. Kirk shot our engagement and wedding and we now regret not having him there for the rehearsal dinner. Kirk understands the lighting of the moment and can find beauty in the unexpected details that go unnoticed. We felt like he was one of our old chums and he put us completely at ease (photos can be nerve wracking as we all know).

Our photos told a story in the most artful way and captured the night as we saw it in our heads. He listened, understood our vision and executed it. In fact, I still have a hard time believing that I look as beautiful as he shot me. Isn't that how it should be?

When my husband and I decided to plan our wedding in Seattle, the only thing we knew (as out-of-towners) was that we wanted our wedding to be: 1. small and intimate and 2. captured by the best photographer we could find. We searched online until we found Kirk. The search ended there. After looking at Kirk's portfolio, it quickly became clear that Kirk is a true artist.

He is able to capture such emotion and personality in his work. We immediately decided to ask Kirk to shoot our wedding. He did not disappoint. Our wedding photos are just amazing. Shooting in both digital and film, Kirk was able to capture so many beautiful moments from our day, many of which we had no idea he had taken. We are so happy with how our photos turned out.

Some of the candid shots almost look posed because they're just that good. I recommend Kirk to anyone and everyone who is interested. This is your guy! Besides the fact that his photography skills are top-notch, Kirk is also a very kind, genuine, easy-going guy. I think this matters. It was a pleasure meeting and working with him every step of the way.

There are some things that are worth saving for, Kirk is one of them. Our wedding was amazing. During the months of planning we found Kirk early and knew we wanted him to be a part of our day. His work, his passion, the film - a look that so many photographers strive to recreate - Kirk is amazing. Why you need to have him shoot your wedding and engagement: - The final product: many people have photos that are beautiful and many people have good wedding photographers.

But the work that Kirk does is amazing! You decide. do you want good or amazing? - Personality - I'll be honest, it's awkward at first to have your photo taken. Kirk makes it super easy. He's funny, professional and makes the whole experience fun. I would invite him to my wedding as a guest even if he wasn't our photographer :. - Customer service - My wife and I are planners.

We wanted to make sure everything was in order for our day. Kirk made time for us before the event for calls, Skype and email. Super responsive! - Engagement shoot - Kirk found a beautiful place to have an engagement shoot several hours drive, but knew it would be perfect for us. it was! I recommend an engagement shoot, not just for the photographs, but for the experience - it was really a highlight leading up to the wedding day.

We chose Kirk because his portfolio contained so many gorgeous, timeless, artful shots -- no Instagrammy photo filters or a reliance on a contrived "wedding photo list." I don't think I can say anything about Kirk that is as persuasive as the gorgeous images you will find if you visit his portfolio site, but I want to share a few words about the experience of working with Kirk to photograph our wedding.

Not only was he extremely responsive and surprisingly fast to deliver our photos, he was a calming presence and a pleasure to be around on the day of the wedding itself. If you are worried that posing for couple photos will be a little weird, fear not, Kirk will set you at ease and help you find natural, easy moments. He was seemingly everywhere at once, capturing many special moments without having had any real direction from us.

The portraits he captured of our guests are stunning and pull my heartstrings -- not to mention they are a very cool gift to share with the subject. We didn't have a photographer at any of our other wedding-related activities, and we didn't have a videographer, but these photos are special enough that it feels like they are all we need and a worthy investment. We highly recommend Kirk.

While it is obvious from Kirk's photos that he is an extremely talented artist, it is his preparation, attention to detail, flexibility, and good nature that make him an exceptional wedding photographer. Even though we had taken a pretty relaxed approach to wedding planning in general, neither of us realized how much emotional capital we had invested in the day until the morning of our wedding when the stress caught us off guard. Kirk immediately put us at ease as we were getting ready, and helped us relax and focus on just how happy we were.

We chose to have a first look and pictures of ourselves taken prior to the ceremony, and Kirk had scoped out most of the surrounding area (a very large, national recreation area) in advance to find the best light, the best locations, and the fastest routes to access the greatest number of sites. We had so much fun moving between places, taking photos, and talking and laughing, and truly believe that this time with Kirk helped set the tone for the rest of the day. Kirk was incredibly thoughtful and professional, and managed to somehow be everywhere and nowhere all at once.

We're amazed by how many intimate shots he was able to take during the ceremony and reception without ever being obvious or seeming obtrusive. And while he satisfied every request we had for important shots (including our VERY long list of group shots), and remained attentive to our needs throughout the day, he felt more like a part of the celebration and like the newest member of our tight-knit group of friends.

We're looking through our photos now (for the third time today), and are still overwhelmed by how well Kirk captured the best of us, our guests, and the events of the wedding. We truly couldn't be happier, and we will consider ourselves very lucky if we're able to work with Kirk again. For now, we'll look forward to reliving our wedding every time we look through our photos. Thank you, Kirk, for everything.

We are ever-so-grateful for the beautiful pictures and memories captured by Kirk on our wedding day. His specialty is portrait work and photos of the couple and we carved out a healthy chunk of time before the ceremony to let Kirk work his magic. He had a few creative ideas about nearby locations to get some truly unique photos. We are thrilled with the results and so happy that we set aside this time! We reached out to Kirk after my wife and I had a horrible experience with the photographer we hired to do our engagement photos. It was probably the best decision we made regarding our wedding. Kirk is very responsive, highly professional, and yet very relaxed and personable. Kirk was fantastic! Neither myself nor my bride knew what to do for the shoot but Kirk had pre-scouted locations and a great eye. He worked with and directed us to get some awesome photos. If I were to do my wedding over again, there is no doubt that I would hire Kirk as our photographer again. From our first introductory meeting with Kirk, he put us as ease and was warm and friendly. At the end of our meeting, he didn't hesitate to affirm that he is the best photographer in the Northwest and that his work is unparalleled. We booked him shortly after and his photos are even better than he promised.

We had so many family and friends tell us how much they enjoyed our photographer, before they even saw his pictures from the wedding! The first time I saw our wedding photos, I was speechless. And now I can't stop looking at them. He captured the mood and spirit of our wedding perfectly and it is obvious that he is a true artist. Another aspect that seems to really set Kirk apart is how he can read each couple and wedding differently.

He can really bring out different personalities in his photos, which can't be said for plenty of other wedding photographers in the area that I researched. He is very precise in each shot that he takes, so that he doesn't have to take 100 photos for each shot. Again, you will not go wrong in hiring Kirk. I can only imagine that his prices will get higher and higher as his demand grows, so make sure to book his services ASAP!

Kirk shot our wedding. It was a very small ceremony, early in the morning, with our families only. It also included a very small gathering at our apartment later in the evening. Working with Kirk was a real pleasure. He was responsive, flexible and extremely friendly. If you are familiar with his work, you know he is very talented. In fact, we were pleasantly surprised (and not surprised really) to learn that Kirk shot the wedding of some friends of ours who themselves are professional photographers.

He really does produce fine art photography. Our photos were no exception. We are extremely thankful that Kirk was available to shoot this special day for us, and would recommend him without hesitation.

Kirk takes beautiful pictures -- there is no doubt about that-- but he is also such a great guy. He just makes you feel relaxed and at ease. He has such a kind demeanor that you instantly feel you can be yourself around him and that's exactly how you should feel on your wedding day or anytime you're in front of the camera. He has a great eye, is a joy to work with, and gets you your pictures in a very timely manner. My husband and I loved working with Kirk and would recommend him to anyone looking for a photographer.

Kirk came to California to shoot my wedding. He did a great job. Absolutely outstanding. Every single photo is correctly-lit and well-framed. He will not hand you anything messy. He edits as necessary (e.g., slight crops) but doesn't photoshop things into oblivion. I've seen wedding photos before where the couple have been Gaussian-blurred into a glowy mess -- Kirk doesn't do that.

The photos he gave us form a coherent storyline, with one great shot for each important moment (as opposed to handing us 2000 slightly-off photos, which I've seen before from other photogs). He will do posed group shots, but his real strength is in individual/couple portraits and candids. Our friends loved the photos he took of them during the reception, his photos now grace many a Facebook page.

My husband & I didn't want an album or prints; we wanted digital originals. Kirk's standard package includes all of the digital originals, with no watermarks. This was a big plus for us. We did a lot of comparison shopping and Kirk was a bargain, even when factoring in the travel cost. His work is better than a lot of the photographers we interviewed with higher price tags, partially because Kirk doesn't force you to buy an expensive album. We are very happy with our photos!

The experience that we had with Mastin Studio was remarkable! Since the beginning of our transactions, Kirk was honest, worked diligently and reassured us about the process of going through our first photo shoot. The day of the shoot Kirk was attentive, creative and extremely professional. The compliments we have received from friends and family regarding the finished products has been overwhelming.

I had some photography needs done for my website and Kirk was the man to do the job! He is one of the most creative and flexible photographers I know. His seasoned knowledge and laid back attitude is the perfect combination for any work at hand. I especially like how you can give him a theme you are looking for (in my case, was nature vintage), and make recommendations based on his expertise.
