My fiance and I booked Baylor House at the Inn at Salado for a mid-week overnight trip in order to celebrate our engagement. Upon arrival at 1:30 pm there was nobody on the property and a piece of paper was taped in the window stating nobody was in the office and to call the listed phone number for assistance. Figuring it was because we were early (even though I had requested an early check in), I called the number and left a message when nobody picked up.

I received no response. We then returned at 3:15 pm (check in being at 3pm) to the same situation. Nobody to be found anywhere on the property and no answer on the phone. After waiting for more than 30 minutes, walking around, knocking on doors and windows, and leavng multiple phone messages and emails, we finally gave up and were luckily able to book a last minute room at another local location.

The unprofessional behavior of this establishment is UNBELIEVABLE. I still have yet to receive any kind of response or apology from this place. If you do book here, know that they may not even be around when you get there and do not seem to have the slightest interest in either honoring reservations or in maintaining any kind of customer satisfaction. I would give this place zero stars if it were an option. Terrible.

This a fun place to stay. Family friendly, large and cozy rooms, solid traditional B&B experience to boot. We will definitely be going back.

This place is terrible! The list of inconveniences is long: the AC was broken and not cooling; the toilet didn't flush fully; the TV internet connection failed repeatedly; the bedside lamps were too dim to read by (did I mention no TV); the whole Suite was musty and smelled of mold and rot; the bed linens felt like they had detergent in them that was never rinsed out; the towels were damp before they were even used. There was NO ONE on site to help. The office was totally vacant. I called but their Mailbox for messages was even full!

LVE'D it here 1st positive. And will come back super clean, cozy, clean restrooms clean fresh towels.now for 2 things that were not bad but not great is. people(attendants) mess with thermostat and they need a Lock Cage for it. People (attendents) don't have concideration that you paid too and everyone is in same house. Just cuz your cold "DOES NOT MEAN OTHERS ARE!" There are xtra covers in your rooms.

You learn this in Kindergarten Keep your hands to yourself! DO NO TOUCH if it does Not have your Name!. 2nd they could use elongated restrooms other than that I highly recommend this place. We chose a room with no T.V by choice. But ceiling fan was not working was ok. But, like I said people mess with A/C a big NO, NO! But overall at least our experience was awesome here! Awesome staff thank you.

So much potential here. Really old gorgeous building that needs some work but hey, that's expected. Some small improvements would help: the front desk girl was kinda odd, not super friendly and didn't give a lot of info including about breakfast. The gal who delivered our breakfast was so sweet but the breakfast could be better. Even just investing in some nice trays and actual plates vs foam would make it so much more special. Also unimportant but a "little thing" would be better soaps and shampoo. "Eco soap" isn't super exciting. Really nice grounds though.

I'll start with the positive.great location. Now for the negatives.the room didn't look like it had been cleaned in months. There was dried toothpaste on the bathroom mirror and the paint was cracking in the bathtub. The worst part about the bathroom was the toilet. Don't know if it was bolted into the floor or not but it felt like you had to balance very carefully (like an exercise ball at the gym).

Several areas on the walls, the wallpaper was peeling off. Looked like water damage. Our feet were black after walking on the floors.ewwwwwwww. The website advertises wine tastings on Saturdays from 2 to 6 but when we stopped in around 4 she said something under her breath about not wanting to do it And told me she was closed. Everything else about our trip including the amazing dinner at Alexander's was perfect! Will go to Salado again but won't stay there!

I really wanted to leave a great review, but I'm afraid I can't. Especially for the $160 a night we spent. After a year and a half of my best friend of 46 years and I being apart, we met here to have a best friend weekend. I arrived early to check in. Found the boxes on the outside wall with the names of the suites, so I assumed that was the check-in process due to COVID.

As I reached for my suites paperwork I was met at the door by a lady saying "don't do that!". I said well, I thought.not being able to finish my sentence she interrupted "that's for after hours check-in" handing me my key. Walked me over to the side where my suite was (Kolb Suite). Found the outside door was open, so she made it a point to express her displeasure with that and tell me to not leave it open. Ok, sure? Pointed up the stairs and said "your suite is up the stairs".

I said thank you and turned to go up the stairs, but the stairway was dark. "The light switch is right there." Light switch didn't work. I walked up the stairs anyway. Arriving to my suite, after passing a dead plan, it did smell clean, I give them that. The room was very plain. Not the romantic getawa and with antique decor the website mentioned.

The furniture was more 90s country. The floors were dirty (if you like the bottoms of your feet black). We ended up wearing our sandals the whole time. You could see under the beds, and the floors were filthy. The headboard wasn't even attached to one of the beds properly and it wobbled. The picture of the room showed two easy chairs to sit in, which weren't there.

It just had a table and wooden chairs. There was a tv stand, but the tv didn't work. The signal cut out constantly, so no watching tv. The bathroom left something to be desired. The towels had bleach stains on them. The dollar store shower curtain had stains on it like someone spilt coffee on it, and you had to be extremely careful with the shower curtain or the hanging hardware from the ceiling would come apart.

For this price I would expect at least a bottle of hair shampoo and conditioner, but there wasn't. There wasn't a small coffee pot or glasses to drink with. The wall hung a/c seemed to be struggling. Got stuffy. There were dead bugs behind the door. Breakfast was promised between 8:30-9:00, which did come. Simple breakfast but was decent. Half a cup of coffee, which was not cool. Sheets were clean, I'll give them that.

After reading the journal that was left in the room, all of the same complaints were listed from a guest back from April 2021, so these issues have not been fixed and it's July. Pros? It is a good location to shopping, cafes and coffee shops.

Paid 149.50 for a room that was offered online for 110.00. A/C did not work, this was in mid July. Lady said she would bring breakfast at 9:00, she came knocking on my door at 8:15. very very rude service and when asked about the A/C not working she just stomped away and said we would not be getting a rate reduction. I would not recommend this place at all, not because of the A/C not working (things like this happen and can not be avoided), but because of the terrible lady that runs this place. -5/5 stars

I would definitely NOT recommend this place. The customer service was horrible. We locked ourselves out of the room and had a horrible time getting a hold of someone. The lady that finally called me back was rude and hung up on me. A gentleman met my husband and he was very nice and courteous. We had no A/C on Saturday night.

This Inn has a great location and was comfortable. However, the cleanliness was somewhat lacking and breakfast was mediocre. They need some working lights in the back courtyard and the grounds definitely need work.

Stayed here in 2021. Despite a nice room and great location, the management was HORRENDOUS. I'd love to return, but will not do so until the woman they had managing the property is gone. I've never received worse service than I did from this person, who would not provide her name, but told me she is from Russia. She verbally abused a senior citizen right in front of me and was an absolute nightmare to deal with. Completely unprofessional, and shocking for a nice place that is apparently owned by some very respected folks.

We spent a relaxing weekend in Salado and really enjoyed our stay in the Baylor Cottage. Very clean, very comfortable bed and the big bathtub was great to relax in after a long hike. Hot breakfast in the morning was included, which was an additional perk. We are looking forward to our next stay at the Inn.

Great lil B&B. Had a very minor snafu checking in, we booked on a popular online site but the site and the Inn calendars don't sync. No problem, they still had rooms, unfortunately not the same as we booked but that's okay, things happen and the lady checking us in could've have been nicer and accommodating. She put us in a room on the top floor of an adjacent building with a large porch overlooking Main St. Great customer service.

Love this place! Jacob was amazing! He helped us find the best wine for what we love and gave us other options as well. He couldn't have been more helpful. We are staying at the Stagecoach Inn tonight but would definitely consider the Inn at Salado in the future due to his table manner and personality. Looking forward to what else the inn has to offer.

Out of all places we visited to hold a wedding this was the least attractive, run down rooms and an odd old smell. There are wedding venues that are by far more elegant and much nicer than this place. Overpriced with very little quality, almost none. They are trying to fit in a business concept that does not mesh the area. Even worse, they are not military service member friendly. Retired service members that served a life time are not treated with respect. The real owners are abrasive, disrespectful and arrogant. Not a good business conduct. They have yet to understand that owning a business entails being nice to everybody.

We host our annual Department gathering here. They easily accommodate 100 people. The food is wonderful, and there is so much to choose from! They decorate as simply or as fancy as I need for the event. They even bag up any leftovers we have or us to take home. We absolutely love our events here!

Went here with the family for mother's day. Food was okay, nothing fantastic, but the service was less than stellar. We were rushed throughout even though there were empty tables and no one waiting. Discussed it with the manager and he didn't seem too concerned. The server took away my wife's salad plate while she was still eating. They started bussing the table of everything even though we weren't finished. Not what you want for a relaxing family event. Won't go back.

My boyfriend and I were looking for a cute, quiet place to stay for Spring Break, and the Inn at Salado ended up being the perfect place. Did we feel a little out of place as we are in our late teens/early twenties? Yes. Did the innkeeper give us a little bit of a nervous look when we walked in? Yes. But gosh darn it. It was the best experience I've ever had on a vacation.

I love antiques and this beautiful, old inn gave me chills. We stayed in the Rose Room which is just an awful, awful room (please don't rent it, I love it so much). It is just perfect. It has it's own private balcony with a little bench swing. The only complaint I could possibly have is that I almost died stepping out of the GORGEOUS clawfoot bathtub. Maybe yall could put in a little wooden step stool for the tall and clumsy like me?

Amazingly, this little gem beat the old rule that you can only have two of the following: charming, clean and affordable. It's all three - and we had the most affordable of all the rooms. It was a Wednesday night in this sleepy little tourist town so we were the only guests but the owner was on hand the next morning, preparing and laying out a delicious breakfast buffet.

Our bed was very comfortable and the bathroom impeccable. Wifi worked perfectly - we watched most of "Lonesome Dove" on a laptop - and the room was comfortably air conditioned. No complaints whatsoever. Try it, you'll like it!

I just had my wedding here! This is the best venue for your wedding. Most everything is already taken care of. In fact, your wedding planner which is provided to you by the Inn will help you with everything you need help with to have a beautiful wedding. The grounds are so quaint and cute we could not resist choosing this location. I was a worry free bride because I didn't have to plan the small stuff. You have to check this place out for yourself. It is worth the short drive from Austin. I HIGHLY recommend.

This is a quaint stop, easy check in and accomodating hosts. I have stayed overnight here for business reasons and they are always willing to leave me a yogurt/fruit thing in the fridge when I have to leave before the big breakfast on a weekday. Although no coffee on these early departures, hence my review of the coffee shop in Salado (although even THEY were closed last time i rolled out, could have been on vacation, this is a small town you know!) The Inn at Salado makes it easy to like them and their newer rooms are comfortable, clean and a great place to stay for the cute Christmas parade in December.
