Goldmine Lodge

Clean cozy space with all the amenities at a low price. Only came to big bear for a night just to check out the area and this is a spot I wouldn't mind coming back to. Dog friendly with plenty of space outside for her to run around.

I wish I didn't have to leave a star at all. We stayed here in August 27 thru 29 2021. It appeared we were the only ones there. They didn't have air conditioning and the guy at the front desk said they provide fans and to open a window. The tv was old and staticky. Even though we were the only ones there, the guy would not give us another room. The place is rustic but not in a good way, seems hasn't been updated since the 50's, again not in a good way.

It seemed really eerie when we came back from dinner, almost hauntingly eerie as there was very little lighting to get upstairs to our room. No one was at the front desk at night. We asked for clean towels after our first night and never received them. Bed was super uncomfortable. Both my husband and I felt as if we were sleeping in the middle of the bed as it had a dip in it.

Again no accommodations to move us. Also they said they were not renting out the cottages as they are advertising for them. Stay somewhere else to have a nice visit in Big Bear! Run very fast away from this joint!

50-50. Very, very nice. Can do with a lick of paint here and there and some furniture replacement. Our couch in apt. 1 definitely has passed its glory days. I have back problems and the couch did not help, but that's not a show stopper. It should be easy for them to replace or repair that couch. Very, very clean and all the comforts you need. I travel globally a lot for work and am fed up with hotels.

This place is a mini home away from home. Another poor point is sound proofing. Our neighbors upstairs put their TV on at 6:30 on Sunday morning. It was quite loud or sound proofing is just poor as we could very easily hear their TV, waking us up, whilst we hoped to have a relaxing lie in. Would we come back? Not sure. only because of the poor sound proofing and the very uncomfortable couch.

I give it 4 stars because there was no ac and a random hole in the dining room area. If you plan on staying here don't do it in the summer. We stayed on 06/18/21 -06/21/21. Don't get me wrong the place is really nice and I do plan on coming back but not in the summer.

I would like to give this place more Stars but the issues with this place just won't allow me to give them more. It's almost irreparable. This lodging may fit for some folks but I'd imagine the vast majority of folks will find some issues unbearable(at least I did). Here are a list of Pros and Cons: Pros: Great Location Fairly comfortable bed Kind and prompt front desk staff Water pressure is awesome Heater works well.

Solid WI-FI Con: Walls and ceiling THIN - PAPER THIN, like using tissue paper. My daughter was complaining the entire weekend we could hear people above us and to the side of us. We had to wear earplugs. The only way to fix this is probably to put up new walls or sound mitigation stuff. This is the worst thing about this place. And it makes it unbearable to stay.

Old TV - It's a tube tv, don't expect a flat screen Fridge - working but was left unclean when we arrive. Someone had left milk in the fridge. yuk There are great reasons to stay here if you are looking for a quick overnight stay and if you choose an end room or specifically a room on the 2nd floor. But if you stay on the 1st floor, be advised, it'll be very very hard to sleep.

1. No hot water. 2. Rooms are extremely outdated and overpriced. You're better off at a motel. 3. Owner lies 4. Do yourself a favor and look for something else, closer to the village that will be worth the price. 5. Old TVs in rooms, some are not even hooked up. 6. Shaggy 80s carpet, in outdated colors, yuck! 7. They're making way too much money on this outdated s-hole!

The owner of this place is really nice and sweet. The prices were below the average compared to other hotels, cabins, etc. Very clean. I stayed in a cottage, which was tidy and had a small kitchen (mini fridge, mini portable stove, silverware, etc.), restroom, large comfortable bed, jacuzzi, heater, fireplace, etc. Free parking. Cameras on the exterior for security. Super comfy, relaxing environment. I would recommend and would return.

Our stay definitely exceeded our expectations. The room was very spacious and clean. It had all the amenities and toiletries that come standard in a room including mini refrigerator and coffee but did not come with an iron and board but that's not always included in every hotel. It had a very nice yard area where we were able to walk our dog and even had a swing jungle gym set for kids.

It was in a quiet area off the main street but could be missed if yorewnot looking carefully. Front desk staff was super friendly and insightful. She went over every detail of our stay and even answered a few questions we had regarding the town. I would highly recommend staying here and with lower rates compared to hotels closer to town it was an added bonus.

Was warm and cozy. The cabin was great. Close access to shops and stores. Just gets super hot in winter time with fireplace on. But that's because it's a studio. Everything else was great. Bring your own firewood though. Bed was super comfy and the place was very clean. We enjoyed our stay.
