Store was lovely. However I'm big on service, especially when it comes to purchasing items that tie into spirituality. I went to the counter to compliment the store and there were two women at the counter 05/24 @12:30PM CST. One of the women were extremely rude and acted as if they didn't want to speak. The other was on the phone. I literally sparked a conversation about how I never new so much existed behind the plants entry to the woman at the counter who was available to speak, and how the store was beautiful.

She looked me up and down as if my attire (hoodie and sweats on a rainy day) was an issue as I was speaking to her.and gave an extremely forced & dry 'thank you.' And nothing more. However I spoke with a young Asian woman who was very pleasant and social. She matched my energy. She was extremely pleasant and obviously knows how to treat a potential customer. Unfortunately, I'm very spiritual and I feel like it wasn't meant for me to discover the store.

I'm glad I experienced the unpleasantness at the counter, as I feel like that is a sign for me to not purchase anything from this store. Energy can easily be transferred into the items they're selling. I will not be returning or recommending and I hope they take my review into consideration as to how to improve how you treat potential customers. Seems like based on previous reviews, they tend to profile some of their customers based on skin color. Gives the city market a bad reputation. You'd think after so many similar reviews, they would maybe self evaluate? If nothing changes, then you can safely say they aren't welcoming of ALL people.

Loved this place until today when i came in and noticed that the tall lady who's probably the owner was staring at us the whole time and followed us. we were near the plants and she proceeded to spray water when i was in the way got my whole purse wet including me, she didn't apologize i returned everything and from reviews i've read she seems racist.

This store is really really cool. They carry a decent selection of houseplants, flowers, and planting accessories. However, plants aside, the amount of intriguing house knickknacks, decorations, and accessories is where this store really shines. There's a lot of cute and quirky goods there, and there's even a respectable selection of 'witchy'/metaphysical products to buy.

The store itself feels somewhat cluttered in certain places but it's totally worth checking out every nook and cranny just to marvel at everything. Prices are alright, probably comparable to other competitors in the area. Service was pretty friendly and generally leaves people to their own business, but was willing to answer questions if anyone had any. This store is a must-see at City Market, if only for the sheer amount of interesting items they carry. I'd definitely recommend this shop to tourists and locals alike.

Everything here is over priced, they have cute / funny items but it's not worth it in my opinion. You could get anything from here cheaper on Amazon or from Walmart which, is where I believe everything had to be purchased from because a lot of the prices were quite outrageous. The employees weren't very helpful and weren't the nicest either.

They have a little bit of everything here flowers (fresh and some to replant), pots, decor, books, clothes, and more. I do understand it's a smaller business so they have to make their money as well but I couldn't ever justify spending money (and so much) anywhere that disrespects their customers. Place was cute but I don't think I'll ever go back there again.

Also someone followed my sister around the store and out of store. we saw keychains earlier in the store and considered buying them but they were over priced like I said at 15$ and put them back and didn't think twice about it. And at the end of our experience we were leaving and a man followed us out accusing us of stealing those same exact keychains that we had put back at the beginning of our experience.

The fact is neither of us have ever been accused of stealing and we're totally confused when he even stopped us. The fact is this place has a problem with doing stuff like this from reading the other reviews and I find it highly ridiculous.

I've been here a few times over the years and had positive experiences, but I've been twice in the last week and the customer service has been pretty horrible. On the first occasion, a man followed me around the store as though I was going to steal something. At the time, I thought he was a customer but from reading other reviews, I now realize he was security and was following me around because I was the only brown person in the store.

On the same visit, my husband said that the blonde cashier (not the one with long straight hair) was just staring him down with a dirty look. Anyway, on our second visit in the same week, the same blonde cashier was very rude once again and looked at us as like "wtf are you doing here?" like we weren't supposed to be in there. I'm not sure what her issue is with us but I suspect it is racially motivated.

I read some other reviews and noticed others have mentioned experiencing racial profiling while in this store. I wish I hadn't spent so much money here, and am definitely going to find a place with friendlier customer service.

This place is wonderful if the tall blonde old woman wouldn't of HOUNDED And LOOKED through my stroller. There were other people with strollers I live in Overland, KS and have never been targeted nor was I stealing. My toddler was having a fit and as I was trying to navigate through the narrow cluttered store. A two year old throwing a tantrum is frustrating alone. This was very unprofessional to profile my family like this.

I went into this place today looking for something unique for a special someone. Overall the place has a nice selection of things and EXACTLY what I was looking for BUT THEY ARE RACIST I had to use the bathroom and they don't have one so I TRIED to exited and find the nearest one. Well on my way out a big bearded white guy jumped in front of me and was demanding I take whatever I STOLE out of my purse. Confused!

I asked what did he mean. He then started asking me to open my bag and give back his "box" He "saw" me put in my purse. Long story short he STEREO TYPED me being that am African American. I guess since I was " in a rush" I must have stolen something. Im sure he felt like a douche and tried to further douche himself by saying "two white ladies where caught stealing over the weekend" so wtf that have to do with me today idk. I liked the store but I definitely wouldn't spend a penny nor another second in a place that hires RACIST.

I don't know of any other place in the downtown area that is quite as eclectic when it comes to plants, outdoor decorations and home decor. There truly is something here for everyone. During the growing season, they have a varied assortment of plants and cut flowers to buy, during the off season, they still have a huge store filled with gifts and decorations.

My mother loves the selection of pet sweaters while my sister loves the assortment of buddha statues and bamboo. I bought my dad a puzzle of the national parks for Christmas and I got my grandma some wall art. Those are just some examples of the types of things other than flowers you can find at Dutch Flowers. This place is a great way to spend some time on a chilly or rainy day at the market.

The selection is really great, I love all the loc offerings, however, what stood out was the superb customer service. I went in to pick up a new coworker some mini succulents, a pot, and some soil so they could join our succulent team building happy hour. I was not very familiar with succulents and the lady working was very helpful in setting it all up. She was knowledgeable, helpful, and just incredibly polite. I'll definitely come back for future potting needs.

This place is really pretty, but the leasing manager or just manager of the store is really rude and I have a video of her racial profiling. This store should be shut down or the manager should be fired. Make sure to always keep a camera on you if you're not white. I wanted to buy something, but I don't support this.

Lately, been coming here with my mom to check out this floral place. It's a cute store with lots of plants and floral for any occasions. I enjoyed the lovely bouquets they have here. Everything is fresh and reasonable and good for last min gifts incase if you forget your anniversary or birthday, or a good pick me up item. I really enjoyed the coming here each time and it's always something new. Definitely would recommend this place to anyone as well.

What a great place in the city market to come in and shop and browse at. This place has so many different kinds of goods you can get lost in here for an hour or two.

When we went, there were free flowers! More of a unique shop! Although flowers aren't really in season! Tons of awesome eclectic things to look at. My significant other & I spent around 45 minutes looking through everything. Ended up getting a unique wind chime! Definitely would recommend stopping by to take a look.

What a fun shop that is maybe a little pollical incorrect with some items but I just enjoyed this place. The flowers looked great too but this is a great place for gardening items especially out door decor and do not be surprised if you get mooned by gnomes.

This place is badass! There are so many great pots and fun things to buy in there! I come here every time I go to the river market because I see something new every single time. I love the bags they have and the candles smell amazing. Definitely a great spot for any garden!

I love this place! Really unique items and designs, new flower options all the time and the staff is amazing. Mary made this up right on the spot just before closing and was really nice about everything! The flowers are so fragrant and the fresh mint was a really great touch.

Valentine Day 2019 - Went to Dutch Flowers out of convenience I was at the river market buying spices. So I stopped in to buy a dozen roses at $25 plus tax. Took the roses home to my wife who was less than enthused. She remarked, "These roses are wilted and look old, they got you baby!" I should have know something was wrong with them when I asked the guy checking me out, "Will these be survive if I left them in the car overnight in a heated garage?" His response, "No, you need to take them home and IMMEDIATELY put them in water.

The care packet is inside." My wife asked me, "Where'd you get the flowers last year?" My response, "Costco, but I thought a florist would be a step up". We happened to be at Costco on Valentines Day and I looked at flowers. Not only were they of better quality and variety they were significantly cheaper, $17.99 for a dozen tight rose buds and $10 for a large wild flower bouquet.

Oh by the way last year I ordered 50 roses from Costco online and had them delivered for $49.99, how'd I forget that! In closing if you have access to Costco buy your flowers there!

Being a big supporter of small local business, I chose this shop when I needed to order via phone for delivery in KC. I have been inside the shop several times and it's been ok for walk-ins. I was less than satisfied with this order/experience - I thought the arrangement was just meh, but my daughter did like them so that was the important part.

The kicker was that I asked for an inexpensive birthday arrangement (around $35) and yet my charge was for $58. I completely expect a delivery fee (it was 2 miles) although that was not divulged on the phone call, nor did I receive an email or text receipt, nor did I receive the delivery confirmation text. I would just suggest to be a little more forthcoming with the hefty delivery fee up front so customers are not surprised, and follow through with a receipt and delivery confirmation as promised.

A very fun and eclectic shop. One must take the time to look at everything, lots of things for all ages. A must stop if you at the market place. We all had a very good experience last time we were there and just part of the great river market place.

I came in near closing time worried the shop owners would kick me out by threatening to beat me to death with flowers, but no! They were kind and gave me exactly what I wanted, right before checking out I wanted to make a change. No complaints but a chipper attitude and a spring in her step she fixed me a bouquet fit for Freya, the Nordic goddess of fertility, my pregnant wife. Good on you Dutch

This place was pretty disappointing. I went specifically for herbs, but everything they had was either dead or dying. I decided to get some indoor house plants instead and found weeds in them when I got home. The store is also extremely cluttered, which makes it hard to reach anything. They do, however, have a bunch of fun decorative merchandise, which is why I gave them two stars instead of one.

Dutch Flowers is a refreshing take on a floral shop. They have a unique and beautiful assortment of eccentric yard decor, gnomes, flowers, succulents, candles, collectibles, etc. Overall Dutch Flowers is a cool getaway from the business of the River Market.

Dutch Flowers is a whimsical little shop in the River Market. We stopped in while exploring last weekend. It has a variety of items from plants to decorations. Some of it is serious and others are cool gag gifts.

We live in Tulsa but decided to spend a weekend in KC for our anniversary. I have never missed getting my wife flowers for our anniversary however between our local florist closing and driving to KC on our actual anniversary, I thought this might be the first year she didn't get any. However I emailed Dutch flowers about my situation and told her where we were staying and between the flower shop and the hotel, my wife had a BEAUTIFUL floral arrangement waiting in the room when we checked in.

She cried (always a good sign of a good/gorgeous arrangement) and absolutely loved them. They are now sitting on our dresser at home and have since bloomed even more and I have to agree with my wife, they are getting prettier every day. Thank you so much for making this weekend special!
