Since 1987, Appointments at Five has been an Athens tradition. Longtime friends and co-owners Kitty Culpepper and Jenny Sligh turned this early 1900's house into a specialty shop that offers almost everything. In 2000, they expanded to include the 1920's cottage next door - making room for the growing French country collection. The two houses are joined by an outdoor garden filled with ever-blooming flowers and unusual garden items purchased abroad. Appointments at Five specializes in English and French antiques, decorative accessories, bridal registry, and a wide variety of gift items.

An associate asked if I needed help finding anything, and I told her I was just looking and that I came in because I was curious about what the store had to sell, and she didn't say a word to me and walked off. It was a rude encounter and with the environment of the place, I couldn't help but feel like the color of my skin and my age made me feel unwelcomed.

Every time I'm in Athens, Georgia, I stop in At Appointments at Five. I don't know which I love better, Jenny and Kitty, or their beautiful, expansive shop with a vast array of exciting merchandise they have which I know they seek wide and far. It is a delight to spend time searching the store to find jewels big and small alike. Both Jenny and Kitty are the definition of grace, always so helpful as is their staff.
If you want to be surround in some southern exquisite charm, Appointments At Five is the place to go to spend a few hours. I'm certain you won't leave the stop without purchasing one of the lovely jewels, and a lasting memory of the owners.

They had some very nice things in this shop. It wasn't an antiqe store like I originally thought more like a smaller privately owned pier one (few antiques). They had some very nice things I bought a lamp to replace the junkie one I currently have. If you are looking for some nice quality one of a kind pieces this is the place for you. Although there are no bargains as far as I could see
