Meagan planned a gorgeous wedding with eucalyptus and mauve flowers. We had details everywhere; I wish I'd taken photos myself that evening! Turnersburg, a historic town eleven miles northeast of Statesville and three miles south of Harmony, is situated on lovely rolling hills and valleys. The first owner of record we have for the home now known as the 1812 Hitching Post was George Locke. He owned a sawmill at Locke's Shoals along Rocky Creek.
The 1812 Hitching Post Farm is conveniently located between Harmony and Statesville on US Highway 21 North in Iredell County, North Carolina. We're about 8 miles north of the crossroads of Interstate 77 and Interstate 40. Look for the big yellow house with white pillars and pickets in front with the address "2463" on the fence.
We've been providing all-inclusive weddings for almost 20 years. We have been chosen as one of the top 5% of wedding venues in the nation; we're listed on The Knot as one of the top historic wedding venue locations in North Carolina; and we've won both the Couple's Choice Award and the Bride's Choice Award on Wedding Wire for as long as they've been doing reviews.

I don't think you can pick a better venue. We had our all-inclusive wedding the first weekend of June and I would not change a thing! We were able to pick almost every single detail. Decorations were mostly borrowed from the venue and we added a few personalizations that were important to us! Food was amazing, DJ and minister were fabulous and the staff was top notch! 5 stars to Wendy for not only coordinating our big day but for being our photographer as well! Wedding budgets these days are insane and we are so thankful we found The Hitching Post. 100% recommended!

My husband and I had the most wonderful time having our wedding here! They took care of everything! I'm the kind of person that details of the wedding wasn't a big deal to me so I wasn't much help, but Wendy seemed to make it work and made it better than I had imagined. Thank you guys for everything! The food was good, the service was wonderful, and hardly any stress. We even got to surprise Wendy and her crew with the coolest Mother/Son dance!

The Hitching Post helped make my wedding day amazing! The owners and staff are incredibly kind and great at what they do! The venue is eclectic and beautiful and filled with a rich history! I loved the vintage feel the place has, and every part of the property is truly stunning. We supplied our own decorations to fit our theme, but they helped us execute my vision perfectly. BUT if you want to make your life easier, this venue has plenty of gorgeous decor on hand that they'll let you use!
This is especially great for those who are going with a rustic theme! I loved my wedding day and could not have done it without this venue! Highly recommend! Thank you Hitching Post!

Attended a wedding here, and I can say I will never attend a wedding held here again. The place is small and felt very cramped. They COMPLETELY ran out of food, starting with the entree (meat) first. The worst part was the terrible attitude from Wendy almost immediately as the day started. I honestly don't don't why such a sour woman would host's weddings. She was rude to everyone. Do not book here.

We were married here on 10-11-21 & it was perfect. We had a small intimate ceremony with family only. I loved that it was stress free & planning a wedding didn't take over my whole life. The property is beautiful. The bridal suite is roomy with a cozy feel. If you're looking for a unique venue with plenty of planning options, this is it! Thanks Wendy!

We had the pleasure of doing our elopement or "mini wedding " at the Hitching Post. We were a group under 10, they performed the ceremony exactly as we asked. The music we asked and did our photography. Thanks to them it was incredibly low stress! We found their rates to be phenomenal, attentiveness and responsiveness were absolutely on point. We would absolutely recommend this venue and fine folks to anyone. They were 100% open to our input and made it feel like the amazing day that we envisioned.

Wendy is an unprofessional, deceitful, dishonest, unethical, purely evil person. She just wants to pocket your money and give you nothing in return. Her word means nothing and is clearly not her bond. I back the comments made by husband Rance J. I'm sure once again she'll try to defend herself from negative comments on this review. But you can't trust the words of a thief and a liar! She'll say anything to make herself look good but we all know (including her) what the real truth of the matter is. Horrible human being!

The owner of this venue is not truthful. She outright lied about an event we booked and took our money. She verbally told us on two occasions we could use the venue for the time we had paid for (over $4000). There are a lot of 4 star reviews here and I'm happy for everyone that had a successful event here. Unfortunately for us, she lied and took our money.
If you read through the 1 star reviews, you'll see this is common practice for her. If she responds to this, she'll point to the fine print in the contract. She'll also babble about how she had already spent money on our date. Since the wedding was 8-months out and then rescheduled for over a year out, and there were no planning meetings, she couldn't possibly have spent any money on our event.
She has no sense of common decency. Also note her replies to the one-star reviews. She makes excuses and it's always everyone else's fault but hers. Steer clear of this place. You've been warned. ***I just read her response. She has an excuse for everything to try to make herself look good. We discussed all of this at length. Note in her response she doesn't say she told us she would try to rebook the date and refund us.

Wendy made our wedding day a dream come true! If you are planning a wedding, I highly recommend 1812 Hitching Post. We also had our catering and cake done by them; everyone is still talking about how delicious everything was. I can't think of a better wedding venue, especially at the prices they offer. They offer large weddings, small weddings, and even elopements! Wendy and her team are truly amazing!

My husband and I decided to have a smaller, more intimate wedding of about 25 people and opted for a package that allowed for 20 people and around 5 hours of venue time. From the start, Wendy was diligent in her responses and presented all packages and options clearly with leaving room for customization wherever needed. She has an array of wedding packages that range from couple only elopements to weekend- long events, most of them being all-inclusive packages, and all of them being fantastically affordable!
She honestly made deciding to get married here an effortless decision and was an immense joy to plan the wedding with throughout the process. She constantly kept my vision and priorities at heart when creating our unforgettable day. She got excited with me and I genuinely felt her happiness for my finace' and I. This esteemed lady and her family are the type of people who just love weddings!
From the food, to the DJ to the coordination and photography; her team ensured every single part of the package was done to perfection and I worried about nothing except getting pretty and getting married. We just got our photos back almost two weeks after the wedding and they are phenomenal! :)))) If you're in the market, the venue speaks for itself on their site's photos.

If I could rate higher, I would. My husband and I were married here almost a month ago now. Wendy and I planned my wedding over the timeframe of about 1 year. Let me stop right here and say SHE IS INCREDIBLE. From the beginning, everything was on the table. Wendy never left me feeling in the dark or confused about what was offered. She and her team supply and offer SO much.
Throughout the year of planning she was very easy to get a hold of if needed. She always responded within about an hour! I cannot say enough good things about 1812 Hitching Post, and I seriously suggest you to make an appointment to check out the property and meet with Wendy. The Big Day was MAGIC! The only thing I would change is that I wish it didn't end!
Everything was beyond perfect (and I am a little bit of a control freak). Wendy and her team took the reigns and way over delivered. We had about 100 people, and every single person keeps telling us how beautiful the ceremony was and how much fun the reception was. It was so well organized, nothing went wrong at all. The music was fantastic, timing was on-point.
Food was great! Cake was GORGEOUS AND DELICIOUS! I cannot even explain how perfect everything was. If you have a tiny inkling to consider 1812 for your wedding, GET IT BOOKED! You won't regret it. If I could do it all over again, I wouldn't change a thing. These guys know what they're doing, and do it with grace. I had zero worries and I feel like I owe that all to Wendy. 1812 Hitching Post 2014 Wedding You do not get what you pay for. This place is as expensive or more than some of the much nicer wedding venues. At first you think it is worth it because Wendy advertises that she does full wedding planning. This is not true at all. Wendy does not have the first clue about wedding planning. She never takes notes or remembers anything you talk to her about.
You have to constantly push to have things done. The only wedding planning she does is provide you with a checklist for you to do. 1812 Hitching Post Photography - She has no experience and no license. Go with someone else if you must have your wedding here. If I had to do it again, I would take my money somewhere else. I am not happy!
